Datsun after their GO and GO+ are now ready to rock the Indian roads with the latest offering Datsun redi-GO. A unique fusion of compact crossover & urban hatchback, offering the best of both worlds.
I had seen the car’s details when I clicked on SnapDeal online booking and for your information the easiest way to book is with just INR 10,000/- and the nearest dealer would get in touch.
I really liked the design of the hatchback and the presentation of the front grill makes for a large car feel. The looks are for real and makes it a mix of a sedan like feel and a hatchback rolled into one.
So for the three reasons now why I want to take it for a spin:
The exterior first.
The Japanese YUKAN design looks pretty compact and sleek added with lean and dynamic sidelines. Think Aero and it fits the design and its got a bit of silver that makes its more attractive. The high stance of the exterior and the high ground clearance makes it the cross over that you always wanted in its class. It looks more hot with the iconic headlamps and well styled rear lamps.
Second reason: Class of a sporty Interiors.
Spacious look and feel that will take your entire family for an outing, the dashboard with digital tachometer provides a modern touch, and the drive computer keeps you informed of your current fuel economy. The power windows and an excellent audio system makes for the right music on road.
Third Reason: Safety
Right from performance augmented brakes that give you the short braking distance to the reinforced crash protection shell plus the best in class visibility with higher eye point. Add to this the superior suspension system which gives stability and cornering performance. Then there is the force absorbing bolster support in the seats. The adaptive electric power steering and the aribag are all a part of a common thread making it safe, secure and reliable.
Bonus reason: Performance
The iSAT engine automatically adjusts spark timing in response to fuel quality and power requirements. The performance from the 799cc engine is peppy and exhilarating; besides being easy on the pocket with a great mileage of 25.17 kmpl.
A great package if you can call it and it will be great to see them on road. And going by the young and the next gen, this is an on the go hatchback the real crossover.
Fun. Freedom. Confidence. The ultimate Urban Cross – Datsun redi-GO – the capability of a crossover with the convenience of a hatchback.
One more reason I want to drive this car around is to attract eyeballs for sure as I drive on the road.
So now where do I want to go with this car for a drive that’s going to be memorable. I have two places in mind.
1. Kari Motor Speedway is the race track in Coimbatore the cradle of Indian motorsports where I can check the car for its speed, and handling ofcourse enroute it would be checked for its ground clearance, the roads are famous for its high humps. We could even test the fuel efficency at varying speeds on road and under test conditions. The shortest braking distance will also be put to test.
2. To the Queen of Hills, Ooty. A scenic place to drive the car uphill and down hill to test its perseverance and drive amidst the nature. The car will be tested on its endurance for sure, I know the steering will be responsive through many a hair pin bends and the mileage will be tested averaging the drive up and down the hill. With its tall seating we will be enjoying the drive overlooking the scenic mountains and cloudy hills.
With its cool design and ultimate manoeuvrability the city rides are going to be more fun when you can make a full turn-around with just a 4.7-metre turning radius, no more getting caught in a tight spot.
Now waiting to drive this beauty of a car when it arrives on road. Looks like Datsun has a winner in redi-GO and going by the words from auto enthusiasts its going to rock the Indian auto world for sure.
At home you would be surprised to know Dad is in-charge of the washing machine.
Mom had developed a bit of arthritis and that meant less water work to be on the safer side and that made Dad step in. And the BPL semi automatic washing machine was the place. The drier had stopped working but it meant little for the kind of clothes that we had. Essentially it was the washing that was important and the Ariels of the world had made way into our life. That green coloured package yes if you can imagine.
Some three years earlier, we added a new washing machine from Samsung stable and it was fully automatic and fuzzy control the tech term came with it.
So the work would be to put this on, and then the whole process is completed and just need to put them on the clothesline. Ideally Dad’s work remained the same.
The BPL still is a horse that keeps going, used for normal clothes and beds and blankets etal, the second washing is done on hand and this is once in a while when Dad takes over here again.
My tryst with washing started when I started staying alone in Delhi in 2010 and it continued when back home, Mom and Dad went to see our sister at US. Its continuing odd and even if i can say that and take care that do it once a week and help out with the clothes.
I would even suggest that it need not be #LaundryGoesOddEven it could be that we could take over the whole thing. I can tell you from my experience that its a kind of nirvana to finish the whole chore and satisfying because you have done your work in a way. If it means that it can help your other half it is definitely a big plus.
So it can be odd even division of work but whenever possible even it out for your better half!
So when I watched this ad, I think the times are changing with more nucleus family in the cities this is the way to go and the kids will learnt that it takes two to tango well even to do laundry!
And when I got a chance to do this #LaundryGoesOddEven challenge it was absolutely happy moment to share and gave my mom her full deserved rest.
I am taking part in the #LaundryGoesOddEven Challenge by Ariel India at BlogAdda and thanks P&G for the pack of Ariel Matic!
Indian roads have come of age and ever since the Golden Quadrilateral took shape the highways have had it the best of times and that meant the automobile drivers had easy task at hand and could deliver better vehicles and concentrate on making it more driver friendly.
The look and feel of the trucks got a makeover and today they are as customer savvy as much as they sell cars. We have seen the likes of many a brand and even the Mercedes, Man Trucks, and Benz making their presence felt here.
The race to be the best had begun and there is no stopping them now. Mahindra with its #SmartTrucking concept has now started delivering some of the best in class truck options for the sauve consumer.
Some of the features that get a hands up includes great fuel economy, mileage, lesser breakdowns, service guarantee at breakdown point etc. Well technically there is this unique modular cylinders for engines that is responsible for low maintenance and repair cost.
The very thought of the truck is that ‘long drive’ perhaps getting things to people from one part of the country to another. The truck perhaps is a brand ambassador in quite a few places and when we discuss long drives, it has to be without any breakdowns at all, forget lesser break downs.
The long drives make for such an adventure, and when you know you have help at hand you get more confident and enjoy the driving across the terrain of the national highways. The drives have become more picturesque these days and the drivers have become more responsible in a way, and the #SmartTruck is one of the reason, they feel pampered. So #SmartTrucking has you covered when it comes to delivering goods which in turn is delivering happiness, delivering responsibly and delivering trust. And a break down is not just an incident, but reflects on the overall scheme of things and that when you have help at hand. #SmartTrucking doesn’t have break down points but then when there is the most unfortunate thing which happens inspite of you being a responsible driver, well that’s when you appreciate the lesser breakdown and help at hand!
The #SmartTrucking is a travel that is akin to our life journey that we have on this earth. There are places to stop, to reduce the speed, enjoy the road while it lasts and yeah keep looking into the mirror only when needed and yes bring on the better roads as we keep going ahead.
We will love the drive and the way the roads converge and how they look inspiring to lead the way to our destination. The long drives have always have had the philosophical bent of mind.
One of the basic aspects of being inside a truck is the ability to see things far and near. You get to have a view of things in your own style. #SmartTrucking today symbolises the most wonderful way to help those who help us by driving some of the biggest trucks.
Kudos to Mahindra for changing the way Trucks are see, built and deliver.
“I’m writing this blog post for the MTBD #SmartTrucking activity at BlogAdda.”
There was a question on what are the basic necessities for human being to lead a life on earth, normally the answer used to be clothing, shelter and food, these days it is actually mobile phone then clothing, shelter and food. The journey of the phone has also come a long way and the present set of users are directly graduating to use the best of the features. A smart phone is one of the best inventions ever since the telephone was invented if you ask me.
There is a reason that the phone with multiple features in your hands is called a smart phone. It’s just that the smartness is on us to take advantage of the phone and every day we come across some of the best apps that we believe can change the way we look at the phone perhaps the way, even life itself.
Then there is an appworld out there where every app maker is churning the best and sometimes try to push you to get to use it. But rarely do we get solutions as a part of the app. On such app is the 360 Security Lite app.
There are two important things for your phone to be a smart phone, a nice memory management and then the most important power management.
360 Security Lite app makes that possible getting you the fast memory and an efficient batttery. That’s the first part of boosting the phone in literal terms. The junk files are nothing but junk and then you need it to be out of the system. Junk shud be where it belongs never in your system. Easy way to be clean was just a tap in the circle to clean it up.
And when you want to clean your phone off any unwanted files that keep your power and perfomance on wane, without your knowledge you have an important task that happens when you use the Clean tab. Scan it and make it clean.
And to talk of virus that enters stealthily and makes it worse for us to use the phone. this tab scans for malware and virus and those software that takes your privacy and trasfer them without your knowledge.
So now I have complete control of getting into slick power management mode with a tap in the app. I know what is wrong and how its tampering with the performance of the phone and its shows!
You also get to see which are the apps consuming memory and draining battery. The suggest cleaning gives a lot of information on what is making it slow.
There are a lot of features like Cleanup reminder and UNinstall reminder a very simple thing that will make a lot of difference. I should give it to the giy who came up with uninstall reminder. Kudos team. The ofcourse you have a Boost Charge and Real Time Protection and App Installation alert.
All in all really a lite app and I am sure this is a must have app that every Phone user read Smart Phone user should have. I would rather put it like this, your phone may be a smart phone but installing this app would make you smart.
Some other apps that make to my list of 4 must apps after 360 Degree Security Lite app are the ones given below:
1. Walnut app: I got to know of this app from my cousin once. I installed it and it went on an overdrive and know what, analysed all the messages in the inbox and gave a nice account statement. I had also made it mandatory on me that i would only use the card to do the transaction and mark the cash accordingly wherever i was going to use it or add it with a bill. It’s given a new way of looking at finances and expenses and where to cut the long rope that i have been giving to some heads of the expense statement.
This is must have app and I believe that this will be one of the most important apps that we should have to keep the checks and balances in life literally. You could rephrase that too keep your cash and balances in life.
2. WowApp: An all new messenger that not only gives you the easy to use calling features but also gets you to have a network of your own that you can monetise, please check them at https://wowapp.com/w/wsenthilkumar.rajappan and join in from my side.
3. True Caller: An app that lets you see who is calling and if the person actually is connected to you by someone who you know. That has actually made me take a call on whether I should really take a call. Try it for sure.
So it was nice reviewing the app and I believe this is a nice and neatly designed on and then there is 360 Box in case you are interested to see how the new market place ofr apps will look like.
The cars and Goa have an innate connection with my life and driving those charming drives in Goa is only too exciting. Another chance, another TATA car and you could not have asked for more.
This time with Indiblogger and Zica the new hatchback which will debut in the market early next year from the Tata stable. Of late with the introduction of Zest and the automatic version from the Tatas they have been making a serious effort to redefine the brand imagery that they have built from their first ever Indian Car – the Indica.
Here too the Zica is a short version of Zippy Car, which we soon found out that it lived up to its name. Zippy Car.
My travel perhaps to Goa was the longest or the lengthiest in relative terms which was a flight from hometown Coimbatore to Bangalore a day earlier on 4th and then joining the Bangalore buddies at the Bangalore Airport on the 5th early morning. Not to mention a flight missed getting back and then again Bangalore to Coimbatore.
Having a cousin in toe was nice. Arunraj, now an entrepreneur was also making his impact felt on the blogging scene and it’s nice to see him a part of the 60 lucky bloggers to drive the Zica.
The Indiblogger team left no stones unturned to make it a special trip right from the moment we got down at Goa to the time we got back. All those moments were special thank you so much Indiblogger and Team Tata Motors
The Zica a product of three year Research & development at the Tata Motors will be a defining moment for them. The classic Tata Grill has got a make over this time all black finish and a chrome logo and looks like a a bit of Jaguar impact on the front. The gleaming lines which take you to the sides and the headlamps all have been worked to a perfect drill.
The colours are a treat to the eyes and I can foresee these gleaming beauties parading across the streets in the days to come.
Ok let me make a confession this is going to be very exhaustive review. Like they did the ZEST as a platform, Tata Motors have come in with Zica as a Platform. A new challenger in the mid entry segment it boast of features that are on par with high end models. We will wait on the pricing and that would do the trick.
So this Zica is a passionate team work of three years as I had already mentioned, with inputs from their Italian counterpart, Tata was only willing to sport the international look that redefines the Tata stable.
Design Next
The classic example is the redesigned and revamped front grille, giving you ample sturdy and communicative look and adds to the aerodynamic stature of the car. The hexagonal imprint is very nice on the car. The head lamps, the parking lamp and tail lamps have been spruced up to make for a impact of a big car. This is as expressive as it can get greeting you with a confident and agile stance, talking of which I answered agile when asked about Messi in one word.
Drive Next
And now the heart of the matter, er the car, in two fuel variants petrol and diesel have nice set of engines which will get you the power in the city’s traffic and also the fuel efficiency that matters to every Indian. The car which we drove came up with 30 kmpl on the Instant Fuel efficiency on the dashboard.
The petrol version sports the Revotron 1.2 L engine with first in segment multi drive modes on City and Eco giving us a peppy drive around the city and furl economy.
The Petrol version is powered by the Revotron 1.2 L engine delivering a power of 85PS and torque of 115Nm @3500 rpm. All aluminium makes it light and fuel efficient.
The diesel version is an all new 1.05 L Revotorq engine indigenously developed in-house deliver s optimum power of 70PS and I must add it’s an aluminium engine which delivers a refined superior engine.
Advanced dual path suspension gives you enough leeway to go over the bumps and potholes that our Indian roads are famous for and 9th gen ABS is a standard with corner stability control for safer driver around the corners.
Connect Next
And talk of interiors and a fantastic job again here, the dashboard is very very chic with a body coloured lining in the sides sporting awing like feature and use of space to accommodate everything you wanted to get inside the car. Water can, a Pepsi can your iPad the way it should be taken up and a 240 litre space to boot.
You have the Connect – an integral part of Tata these days with their navigation system powered by Mapmyindia and a new music system of hotspots with a Juke Car app. Now everyone in the car becomes a DJ and put the next song on the line.
So that was about the car in simple words… now to the event.
We all reached Goa, checked in to the Aliva Diwa, a beautiful place in its pristine beauty, red brick structures giving it an enamoured look.
Post registrations and refreshments and lunch, we started the day on a serious note going to the beach, white sand beaches and they had para gliding happening and it was a sight to watch.
Playing by the waves and some action filled football game later we returned back to the hotel around 5 pm. The game had its share of excitement and injury time, courtesy yours truly trying to save a goal and failing and crashing on the goal post. Roshan was summoned immediately and he went into a doctor mode with some fine dressing on the toe.
The evening started off with some discussions on the fellow bloggers on how blogging is all happening and things like that. Some cool questions were laid to rest on the participation of food bloggers at an auto event.
The real event was the invite from Tata Motors to go to the Locker Room and find it an awesome place. We had a tshirt decked properly with our name card and a bit of information booklet the file a pen and the cute little pendrive. There was the nice water sipper too.
It was a beautiful scene to watch as everyone found theirs and were looking in awe, selfies and photographs were being clicked incessantly.
As this was on, they announced the arrival of the coach – Cyrus Sahukar, who came in with a whistle and lo the party began in all earnest in the dressing room.
The story of how Messi became the brand ambassador for Tata Motors and the reason why they took to Messi was shared fascinatingly by Delna Avari the Head of Marketing and Communications, Tata Motors. Then it was followed by the techno analysis and a passionate presentation of the car and its highlights by Prathap and Sunil.
Then the car was unveiled right in the middle of the field. And the whole team was there who were an integral part of the team Zica.
We got to ask question and got answers to how Zica is set to redefine the way the people look at the cars.
The evening then was led by the DJ and fellow bloggers taking to the stage not to mention Cyrus Sahukar also making it happen. A great end to an exciting day if you thought the advernture was yet to begin. Well the cars were to be driven tomo.
There are things which happen on a Sunday like a 5.45 am alarm from your hotel staff, that they were so duty conscious. Never mind some folks had slept a few hours before or may an hour before.
And we got ready to set out to drive and explore the countryside too we did really explore we will tell sometime later. We got a diesel car and it was nice, they already had a predetermined the route map.
They also had all the media one pen drive, one set of songs on the phone etc so we can use all the functionalities. The bottle holders were a sight to see.
In one of the discussion with the teams they said its actually minor details that makes a lot of difference. One such minor alteration in the placement of partking brake handle gave a lot of space for one more bottle holder. Makes sense, Zica Sense.
The steering and the drive platform was almost the same as Zest, having tested the one it was nice. Very responsive and the turning radius was awesome you could cut corners without any hassle. The dashboard sported a nice look with instant fuel efficiency being marked as you drive.
The suspension didn’t disappoint it could take on large craters on the road, for a small car like this. The ride on the diesel was good on the long one and the switching between the City and Eco has an a telling impact in the way it responds with the bit of earnestness in City mode.
Check these pic on the modes and I also wanted to test the gears at each of their levels I think 4th gear stood on without much strain as you can see from this pic. Well add this you know which gear you are on on the dashboard!
The Music System on the Juke app gets connected and you can line up the songs – democratic setup everybody gets to line up their fav. In course of the presentation day before Delna has indeed put this up from the real time experience when you also want to listen to your fav.
Looks like there has been a lot of consumer insights which has gone into the interiors. check some of the offerings:
An ipad / tab holder
A Cold drink holder where it will remain cold for you to drink, preferably a can that is
A place near the steering for the driver to keep things handy
Enough and more bottle holders – 7 bottle holders and 2 cup holders
Charger on usb mode
Parking Ticket holder
Speakers on four doors giving you the best entertainment on the go
The AC works fine and is able to get to the back seat and that’s nice given that there are no special vents.
The have two sets of suspensions that take you on the most inimitable Indian roads. Well the boot space is optimum with 240 liters of boot space and there is a separate partition for tool kit.
Overall a nice package and I must say Tatas are making the strides by leap and they will deliver the punch that the market is so expecting them to in the next few days.
One thing I should mention here is the way the #madeofgreat campaign was brought about and made an impact to take Tata Motors to a different realm, I think that needs a separate blog by itself.
Thanks to Tata Motors, Indibloggers and a whole lot of our blogger friends making this event a fantastico for ever.
I leave you with this video, pardon me for my low voice.
The book lovers have a new tool, well a page on their book section on their favorite shopping app from folks at Flipkart. The book was the first love of flipkart, well things have changed but then they have tried to please you the book reader with this page!
“What India Reads” is all about what you read or would like to read. The app is designed basis genres for now and will soon feature what celebrities and authors read as well.
The idea of the app is to make readers aware of what books are right at the top and also to help them discover books they might have not known of earlier. There are sections to it, the genres and you could check out the books on the shelf, read about it and well get to buy them ofcourse.
The chances are you can check out the best of the titles and the promising ones, as you see the title rise to prominence in a day or so post launch.
There is an all book offers that will let you know what are the offers that you have at the present moment.
I was wondering on a title Aarushi under Autobiographies, may be it was a a mistake so i clicked on it to find the Autobiography titles there. Not Aarushi.
The pages instead of going to normal pages at Flipkart could be better be designed to the flow of the app interface for the What India reads page and continue with the shopping experience. I am thinking native probably because of my work and professional background.
Another aspect could have been that they have a notification for you to check the What India reads page updation of new titles so that I get to go there quite often.
A nice attempt from Flipkart, hope it helps the readers in you and me and as a start it definitely looks nice to have it.
There are wearables and there are wearables with a human touch and a human connect. We are afterall human beings and have this tendency to be in touch, irrespective of all the tech jargons thrown at us.
I was thrilled when I got a chance to be a part of the review program for GOQii. I have always had Vishal Gondal as an inspiration for what he has been to the Indian startup ecosystem.
Having been a part of his timeline, I have always wondered how GOQii was setting the standard as a fitness wearable in the worlds of other wannabes including tidfit and the like.
So when the mail came I was all pumped up and then there was another thing happening in Coimbatore. The city was hosting its signature marathon – Coimbatore Marathon on Oct 4th and this was a best way to use the stuff review and then enjoy the three month subscription period for free.
So whats special with GOQii you ask. The appearance of the health band is a visual delight, the black core ensemble inside a red black band.
The digital band has all the features which appear at the touch of your finger. Ofcourse you cannot work on the core independently. You got to do everything when connected to the GOQii app in your smart phone. With every touch on the core you get the time, steps taken, distance covered, calories burnt and the karma points added that day. This can also track your sleep.
The installation and conection is easy, this one band came with a 3 months subscription to a personal coach. You get to choose who you want to work with according to your goals and fitness regime that you want to take.
This is the USP of GOQii that unlike other fitness wearable this comes with a personal touch of a coach who monitors you and yeah keeps in touch with you on mail, chat or a skype if you want. The best part is that it can actually get you to be like an offline stuff being at the gym watched by the personal gym instructor to an extent.
Have a look at the ecosystem of the GOQii in here. Did I tell you that you can get all the karma points for all the actions that you do and then you can transfer or donate for free.
Now to the usage, the food and water component of your daily activities need to be added manually, I think this can be from a already existing stuff because its very predictable. And Water intake could be a question format to click on how many liters we drank with a median in there.
GOQii can connect to all the app except that we need separate accounts to each of those apps to sign in and get it there.
The personal coach take their work seriously and that makes us to really get on with what we want. There’s someone watching you and that gives you a reason to be on the road, hit the road and run literally.
You need to connect to the Bluetooth everyday and update and this sends your info to the personal coach.
The battery lasts for over 3 days in my case a starter perhaps, and it needs to be in the adapter to be charged say may an hour or so.
Overall a nice experience compared to the other ones that have features but here it makes it up with a personal touch. May be this will come with the better features on the other aspects of health and fitness and will be a force to reckon with.
This is definitely a great news in more ways than one. India just shifted gears officially so to say with Airtel going 4G. This will open up a new set of internet users who are on the move and have always wanted speed more than anything else.
The best part here is the definition of speed, some of my test with Airtel across the country have given me speeds at 35Mbps imagine a 100 Mb file downloaded in 4 seconds! And rendering a HD video without any buffering and smooth as butter loading and you wont know the full movie is up for you to see.
Now the best part is I have been using 4G for sometime and have had different experiences across different parts of the city – reference is Coimbatore here and some places away from the city say Goa too.
The testing was on a Galaxy A5 and a Mi4i handsets.
As I have already told you this is better than those early days and I did have some difficulty in connecting to normal voice at times when they might have been working on the migration part.
So you want to know how the world will change for you with 4G here’s the TVC that was unveiled today!
The pricing is the key probably for us in India we are very price conscious at every thing that we come across, kitna deti hai types. But the catch is its at the same 3G price.
The thing is we would be easily be driving the bandwidth usage given that 4G can drive upto 30 plus Mbps and thats just 10 instances of 100 Mb downloads for 1 Gb usage!
But you know the life changes for you with so much speed you can do a lot more things faster and take time off for yourself. The transfers that we had officially has now become easier than ever and have time to stretch ourselves for a chai at the canteen.
I think we have been lucky to transfer ourselves from 3G which we have not seen the full potential and to 4G is as insane as it can get. This will have real impact on education and health and other important applications and that can have far reaching impact on the society. I look forward to the positive things that this can drive about.
The consumption of video thats happening and the information search will be interesting to see and how this can enable a brand to reach out to the customers is a big challenge that I can foresee. This is a nice opportunity that way for every one trying to reach out with the power of 4G.
Welcome to a new life of 4G and I have a word of caution, the speed are too hot to handle in literal sense that you would have finished your quota of 2Gb 3G bandwidth in no time!
A colleague of mine went without internet on data mode for 5 days because of testing 4G and exhausting the data! But yeah revel in it till the prices hold to the 3G days!
It almost looks like 3G was so very slow, ask me I started with the 128 kbps telecom connection some 15 years back, upgraded to ISDN courtesy my work at a medical transcription unit and then to the normal broadband, mobile 2G then the 3G which was not fully utilised.
Even the cat look on!
Forget Buffering!
Only on Airtel 4G the speeds are redefined for 4G!
Are you ready to take the challenge? Life time free mobile!
Welcome again to a new way of life called Airtel 4G!
You would be glad to know that Bharti Airtel has launched 4G yes you heard it right 4G in our Covai city. Thats a great speed news since the compelling response Airtel has had from customers in Chennai, Vellore and they will now go spreading the 4G network across rest of Tamil Nadu.
In a world where the Maslow’s Hierachy has been redefined with the access to charging a battery and internet as basic even below the daily needs, it must come as a great relief that 4G is atlast here.
To give you an idea what 4G can do for you, there is no buffering and imagine downloading 10 movies in half an hour, yes 10 HD movies if you will! Add to that uploading your fav selfies and photographs to the facebooks and instagrams of the world in a flash.
The speeds are F1 paced swwosh and your download is done, this time the coffee will remain as hot as served. Be warned.
Now here is the best part to be a part of this at the same rates atleast initially as I hope so, you get 4G at the 3G rates! Enjoy as much as you can, and all you need to do is walk into an Airtel stores across Coimbatore and ask for a 4G sim and well you need to have a 4G enabled handsets.
Some of the common handsets include, Motorola’s Moto E 4G which can be purchased from Flipkart, don’t forget to get a 500 cashback on the same. Airtel has also ties up with Samsung offering a definite 4G plan along with 4g enabled handsets. It is also reported that Samsung is looking to launch its all new Core Prime 4G mobile smart phone in Airtel 4G markets.
Thanks to Airtel, I was one of the few enlisted to enjoy the power of 4G in Coimbatore. Armed with a 4G wifi dongle that can connect upto 10 devices and a Samsung Galaxy A5 handset and fully loaded data, I set to explore what’s 4G speed all about.
As I write this there is a disclaimer that the infrastructure is in the process of being done and this is a pilot happening and they are trying to make it better may be as you complete reading this piece.
I loved the cute handy design of the 4G wifi modem. It can be on the move for upto 6 hours when fully charged. Being on the power its stays fit.
Now to the speeds and the overall experience. The moment I got hold of the handset and the modem, the first thing I did was to post it on Facebook and that elicited a response for a Ookla speed test!
And here we go: at two different places in Coimbatore – Veerakeralam some 500 metres off Marudhamalai road in particular is the first picture:
The result was 6.12 Mbps which meant you could download a 60 Mb file in 10 seconds flat, a 600 mb file in 100 seconds flat!
The second one in a span of two days at Ramanathapuram – Trichy Main Road near Olumbus.
Well the first impression was Wow thats great and on second thought dil maange more! 😛 Need more and today bandwidth is in the gold category where you always need more!
But as for as the videos on youtube and other players it was seamless and there was a initial buffer but once the video started there was no buffering. Downloads of apps and games was superfast, well to be frank I did download, Angry Birds and some Candy Crush stuff to check the speed. Some of the video based apps also worked better in this.
Like I said initial days, and this can be a normal stuff and that is great news, simple because it can only get better from here. Well that’s what people at Airtel seems to be working on getting you better bandwidth and better surfing experience.
I want to thank the folks at Airtel for giving me this opportunity to try out the service at Coimbatore.
Before I close, this is the first installment of the review, await another in a weeks time, and in the meanwhile you want to know what Airtel 4G LTE is all about please click here: http://www.airtel.in/4g/
Senthilkumar
PS: I had been to Goa and we saw 4G modem work seamlessly across some places where even though the reception was a bit down.
I have been to New Delhi too and that made me really pity Coimbatore but yeah I am sure the folks at Airtel are waiting to give us the same speed. Please DO! 🙂
For those who want to know how fast 4G can be take a look at the screen shot below at an Airtel Store in New Delhi.
