Tweets, thanks and bouquets…

I do think sometimes you get to spend some extra time on twitter and in case you get interested in something unless you are a Journo or a TV anchor you can be rest assured that your day is gone for a six. Again its a matter of choice and quite often you get to be spending quality time on unnecessary issues like our television anchors do.

Last week esp last two days have been really great for me (@rsenthilkumar) at twittersphere. Monday night was a great time when (Rajdeep Sardesai) @sardesairajdeep answered a question on the issue of Question Hour being wasted. I was on Cloud 9, literally to be getting an answer from Rajdeep Sardesai was no mean achievement.

Then the next was @RashmiBansal, I am to be frank a big fan of hers right from the JAM days, a different person who chose to be different what else. In conversation with her and actually its because of her impact (my entrepreneur label is still being bandied about) she tweeted on the business and wished me goodluck…

Well then ofcourse you have @Chetan_Bhagat, as I was watching the time line, TIME posted that the 2010 TIME 100 list was out and and I had also quit twitter that moment and it struck me I had to check if CB was there I had voted for him, then I caught up with Chetan Bhagat with the news breaking news rather and it was kind of him to say thanks with a buddy added against my name…

I also have had the privilege of being tweeted by @Lalit_Modi the man behind the IPL and the fiasco that followed it. Then ofcourse @Smitarnair makes it a point to answer everytime she can. Thanks.

I believe this twitter has the ability to break the barriers and make it fruitful for the author and the readers alike the case of CB and his fans.

Am so happy 🙂 for the tweets and it means a lot, a bit of recognition if i may say so of being another Twitterer.

Padma Shri Narain Karthikeyan & Me

Me_NK
Coimbatore is one of the most sought after places as far as motorsports is concerned in India. It comes as no surprise that lot of great drivers have emerged from this cotton city. Recently the city hosted a felicitation for Narain Karthikeyan at The Hotel Residency courtesy Young Indians of CII.

The man as usual was all humility personified and well thanks to Yohann Setna, the former Sporting Director, A1 GP Team India and Marketing Consultant Lotus F1, he was exposed for being a prankster too. It was a great occasion personally I got to get in touch with him after a long time…

TED Video continues… Kiran Bir Sethi

Another talk, really cool one on how kids can change the world…and its infectious by any standard.

Kiran Bir Sethi shows how her groundbreaking Riverside School in India teaches kids life’s most valuable lesson: “I can.” Watch her students take local issues into their own hands, lead other young people, even educate their parents.

Cool stuff again….

Another TED Video absolutely rivetting…

In the series that I had been following, today the mailbox had a newlwtter fron TED.com

Educating the poor is more than just a numbers game, says Shukla Bose. She tells the story of her groundbreaking Parikrma Humanity Foundation, which brings hope to India’s slums by looking past the daunting statistics and focusing on treating each child as an individual.

Really great stuff, we can possibly be doing this!!!

PS: the English speaking children ( all the videos) would give us real scare of our achievement if we think we have any!?

A new top CEO series by INSEAD

A very classic and researched set of variables and three professors make this Top 200 CEOs a wonderful study.

This is the first global ranking of CEOs based on company performance during their time in office. Created by three INSEAD professors, the ranking is based on a global data set of some 2,000 CEOs of 48 nationalities and from companies in 33 countries.

I tried for Indians and there were two, Mukesh Ambani at 5 and K. Kamath of ICICI at 150.

The best thing is that it is spread over various categories and IT is also there. Please check the article here.

Karun Chandhok makes it to F1!!!

Senna seated adn KC seated just above
Senna seated & KC seated just above

I have longed to see an Indian colors in the grid and last week was a ray of hope and yesterday I tweeted KC that I just cant wait to see the official confirmation. And lo, it did happen and am very happy for Karun.

The combination seems too good and it presents a good opportunity for Karun to develop and rise to the occasion. With Bruno Senna as team mate the expectations will be much more than usual. On the other hand Bruno himself will have to race under pressure which I presume will be a great help to Karun.

One more factor which works for Karun is that there will less of pressure from people back home since its not like how it was when Narain gate crashed the F1 circuit. I still have those memories when people thought he ought to have won all the races. Imagine Jordan beating the Ferrari would be straight out of comics or sometime the next film script might allow that.

The Indian F1 fan is much more matured and Karun is not the first driver to do the feat and then ofcourse we shall have comparisons. This time around the look of the grid is something pretty awesome what with Ring Master aka King being back. I am referring to Micheal Schumacher. He would be the most watched person.

I think KC’s presence in the grid is more than a reason that I will be regular. Wishing Karun all the very best and hoping that he will do well as much as possible in the given car and hope he beats his team-mate the first competition on the grid.

KC presence should boost a bit on the marketing front vis a vis selling F1 for the Indian audience for an Indian GP in 2011 hopefully.

This should get some relief for all Indian drivers especially after what Mr. Mallya had said. Well hope things will be better for sure. Now will wait to watch the qualifying to see if KC can spring a surprise, I would wait with my fingers crossed.

Indian F1 fan.

Sachin on song at Gwalior…

There are moments to cherish in this lifetime. One is being born in an era when Sachin lived and created magic that on one can probably try even to imitate. I am lucky that I am born in this era when cricket was all ints glory at the Gwalior grounds when the master blaster went on to make the unattained 200 in an ODI, playing his heart out and more so enjoying every bit of it.

The one special reason that this man has made every one look up is his humility and dedication to the cause that he is playing for the country. Umpteen times we were led to making it believe that he could no more be looking at 200 as many more names thought that it would be their prerogative. Blasting all such notions and playing a game after 20 years in business with highs and lows, Sachin was his best yesterday, one of my friend commented looking at the wagon wheel, only one place he could not do it was over the wicket keeper head and all other places were absolutely filled with colourful lies representing massive strokes from his bat.

I do envy those who had the fortune of watching it live. Sachin after all these herculean efforts remains that boy next door for all his player team mates and he is one such guide that his presence in the dressing room makes such a difference to all these people.

Absolutely a terrific innings by any standard is this the best or are we yet to see the best?
